MCYS clears the air after foster parents gain support from netizens

SINGAPORE - A recent case of a Malaysian boy being sent back to his homeland after being under the care of Singaporean foster parents since 2008 has been attracting much attention on Facebook, prompting the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports (MCYS) to issue a statement to clear the air. The foster parents had set up a Facebook page protesting against the ministry's move to take the boy away from them and send him to a Malaysian orphanage. Their account led netizens to post comments on the Facebook page, with many wanting to know why the boy had been sent back to Malaysia. In a statement to the media last night, the MCYS said it had to make clarifications on the case because "some of the information were inaccurate and misleading".
