The first batch of three-generation (3Gen) flats launched in Yishun last September has attracted a strong response from buyers, said National Development Minister Khaw Boon Wan. In a blog post on Friday, Mr Khaw revealed that 94 percent or 79 out of 84 such flats have been booked, with 56 booked by HDB first-timers and the remaining 23 by second-timers. The selection process for the remaining five units is ongoing and will end next month. According to Mr Khaw, the average household size of these families was 5.1, higher than the household sizes for 5-room flats (4.0) and 4-roomers (3.6). The Minister added that subsequent batches of 3Gen flats in Jurong West and Punggol have also attracted keen interest, receiving close to 300 applications from multi-generation families who qualify for the 164 3Gen flats in these two projects. “We will continue to help extended families wh...
