Small number of defects reported from home improvement works

According to the MND, only one to two defects cases per 10,000 units are reported each year for spalling concrete, ceiling and sewage pipe leaks. The number of reported cases of defects due to workmanship of Home Improvement Programme (HIP) works beyond the Defects Liability Period (DLP) is small – about one to two cases per 10,000 units per year for spalling concrete, ceiling and sewage pipe leaks, said the Ministry of National Development (MND) in an oral reply to Parliament on Tuesday (10 January). This was made in response to MP for Aljunied GRC Muhamad Faisal Abdul Manap’s query on how many cases the HDB received for repair assistance for spalling concrete, ceiling and sewage pipe leaks in one year beyond the HIP DLP.
