More Singapore startups applying for grants, loans November 14, 2011 by Terence LEE This year, SPRING Singapore has received 50 percent more applications for its Young Entrepreneurs Scheme for Startups (YES! Startups ) funding program compared to last year and 2009. That’s about 180 applications this year versus 120 before, reported TODAY . Since 2008, the scheme has given out S$6.3M (US$4.9M) worth of grants, and 17 startups have gone on to secure S$7M (US$5.4M) in additional funding outside the program. SPRING is a government agency dedicated to promoting economic activity and productivity in the workforce. Besides seeking government funding, more startups are also applying for bank loans, according to Channel NewsAsia .
