Over 250 technology developers and enthusiasts took part in this year’s code::XtremeApps:: 2014 Hackathon held on 18 and 19 July, at Singapore Management University. code::XtremeApps::2014 , in its eighth year, challenged contestants to harness the abundance of open data and develop solutions that will benefit society based on the theme “Smart Living – Using Data To Enrich Communities.” Participants of the 8th Code::XtremeApps:: Hackathon transforming a kitchen wok into a smart cooking appliance. This year’s Hackathon was divided into two categories – an Open Category 24-hour Hackathon and a Junior Category competition for children aged 12 years and below. The Open Category saw 62 teams with a total of 160 participants joining the Hackathon.
